These Artists are special because...
Helen Brown's work is rooted in the natural world where she draws inspiration from Nature's shapes, colors and patterns. The 2008 series Baby Sleeps stems from looking out of the window to the pasture and woods beyond while living with her newborn daughter in a farmhouse on the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia. Helen is currently working on a series entitled In Winter in the Woods Alone. See more of Helen's work here.
Ngoc-Tran Vu is one of Giving Joy's very first grantees! She is a 1.5-generation Vietnamese-American multimedia artist and organizer whose socially engaged practice draws from her experience as a cultural connector, educator and lightworker. Tran's paintings portray the complexities of women of color through shapes, colors, shades and spacing. Learn more about Tran's work here and here.
